Waitlist is open for SPRING 2024 litter!
This pup will be heading to Denver to live with his parents and sibling, a golden retriever. His chosen name is Walter, which will suit him well!
This pup will be going to MN in a few short weeks to live with his parents, a human sibling and also a dog sibling, particularly a puggle! Hank is his chosen name :)
I'm Cassie, the one behind Diamond U Berners. Alongside my husband Ashton and 5 children, we've utilized our rural living to embrace the privilege and responsibility to own and start breeding Berners.
We live on the family farm where Ashton works with his father and hired hands. Together, they run a cow-calf operation that includes row crops and haying. We also have chickens and yearly garden that we try to keep up with.
This guy is to blame.
Our oldest child was 2 years old when I felt the need to provide him with an animal friend like I had during my childhood. Difference this time around was that I actually got to choose the breed, so I did some research and stumbled upon the Bernese Mountain Dog.
Affectionate? Gentle? Good with kids?
I liked everything I read, then somehow convinced my husband he could be a herding dog. Next thing you know, we are coming home with an adorable puppy named Chief. Needless to say, he made for a poor cow dog but made up for it in every other aspect as my husband agrees we will likely not go through life without a Berner in it.
Chief (3/24/16 - 10/16/22)
What started as a pet endeavor has now blossomed into providing lifelong companions for others.
A considerable amount of time has been put towards understanding the breed and the responsibility in producing puppies. After much deliberation, we decided to add Dakota into our family. She is the granddaughter of Dancer, who has produced many litters with good health and longevity.
We are continuing to learn more and more about our dogs and this breed, and have thoroughly enjoyed each step along the way.
Not only is she a stunning dog, but she has a wonderful temperament. She is always looking to please and has been the most caring and attentive mother.

Della has been with our pack since 8 weeks old and is the smallest of the bunch. She is very well-mannered, nimble and can outrun the other 3 by far!

She is Dakota's firstborn pup, and just so happens to share her beauty, just in a bit larger frame. She is the goofball of the bunch, always up for a game of tug-of-war or hide-and-seek.

Shortly after birth we take puppies in to remove dewclaws and get a basic examination done by our trusted vet. Alongside mom, we care for them closely and take daily weights to ensure good growth. They receive a series of deworming medication and will also receive their first vaccinations around 7 weeks of age. At that point, we will have a more thorough health examination done to ensure a healthy puppy upon delivery to new owner.
Once our puppies have reached an appropriate age, they are gently handled by our family with close observation. They also get plenty of attention from the UPS/Fed-ex drivers, trash guy, and seed/feed/mineral/insurance salesmen! They also visit the chickens, cows and horses while here. Plenty of adventures are to be had for the puppies before they reach your home!
We provide you with a guarantee that covers any health or genetic condition not due to new owner's fault. If a situation arises, we would take puppy back and discuss reasonable solutions to the problem.
We offer several ways to deliver puppies to new owners.
We send puppy with a small bag of dog food, bottled water, pee-pads if you're making a long trip, a blanket that smells like mom, and a toy. You'll also receive a folder with puppies vaccination record, microchip information (if applicable), sales contract, health guarantee, and basic care information. Then the fun begins!
The Bernese Mountain Dog originated in the Swiss Alps, and is best known for being a watchful farm dog and farmer's companion. They are nicknamed the "draft horse of dogs" because of their large, sturdy stature that pulled the carts of milk and produce into nearby villages. Their remote origins and close proximity to their owners provided thriving relationships, which is ultimately what they need— the love of their owners.
Not only are they excellent guardian dogs, they are loving and affectionate, often considered "gentle giants". As pictured, they are great with kids and even other dogs. They are very intelligent and are eager to please, making training relatively easy.
These dogs are generally healthy, but can be subject to joint issues, genetic issues and cancers. Their life expectancy, 7-10 years, is seemingly shorter than most but plenty of Berners have exceeded that 10 year mark with grace.
The Swiss have a saying about the most heartbreaking of a Bernese Mountain Dog's fact of life: "Three years a young dog, three years a good dog, and three years an old dog...all else is a gift from God."
Our babies are adopted quickly, so reach out to reserve your furever friend or to ask any questions.
